I have worked with children and families more than 30 years in various capacities. I was a teacher for ten years, a guidance counselor for eleven years and a mental health therapist from 2006-the present. I have lived in a number of states, cities and towns from the Chicago and Dallas suburbs to very small towns in Wyoming, and I have had life changing experiences which have broadened my horizons in each setting.

My goal in therapy is to reach my clients of all ages, build their self-esteem and find tools they can use each day to overcome life's challenges.

My purpose in life is to guide, inspire, instill hope and empower individuals, couples, and families to identify issues within themselves and their relationships. I enjoy encouraging clients to live a healthy and balanced life for themselves though effective communication by incorporating your strengths and strengthening areas you feel need to be strengthened.

I empower individuals and couples to identify concerns and issues within themselves and their relationships that impede a healthy, productive relationship and lifestyle. I have worked with individuals, children, adolescences, couples, and families since opening my private practice in 2012. Research shows that healthy communication in relationships, as well as balancing body, mind, and spirit substantiate and enhance one’s ability to live a longer, more fulfilling life.

I have continuing education that supports the clinical work I do and continue to strive to implement evidence-based practices and theories. I acquired my Master of Science through South Dakota State University in Counseling and Human Resource Development.

I provide mental health counseling for Individual adults, children adolescences, families, and couples that suffer from various mental health ailments, relationship complications, and traumatic events. I specialize in mental health diagnosis of depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar, and ADHD. I am trained in Child Play therapy to assist children and adolescents in their ability to process their emotions, trauma, divorce, loss, focus, anxiety, and depression. For couples, I am trained in the principles of Gottman Couples Therapy and seek to develop the couples ability to manage conflict, effectively communicate, enhance their marriage, and recover from the aftermath of infidelity. I assist traditional, broken, separating or divorcing, reconciling, and mediating families to process conflict, loss, and change of lifestyles.

I spend time and energy investing in good physical, emotional, and spiritual self-care. These lifestyle enhancements prove to support my well being and role modeling healthy living to individuals I interact with daily. I continue to be an active member in organizations that enhance my ability to care for mental health, children, and family conciliation matters. I attend church and have spoken in my congregation to help others to learn to develop secure communication and lifestyle that supports the goals they desire.

I provide mental health counseling for adults, couples, families who feel they are suffering from a full range of mental health issues. I specialize in helping people heal from anxiety, depression, psychotic spectrum, antisocial and borderline personality , PTSD, and trauma issues to include sexual trauma.

While creating a safe space of honesty and empathy, I will guide you to strengthen self-trust and empower yourself to solve issues within all your relationships, inside and outside of therapy.  I believe that our minds and bodies are connected through thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In addition to encouraging their own self-care, I enjoy guiding my clients to find more balance, energy, and healthy lifestyle skills. I have learned the importance of working on total wellness through mindfulness in physical and cognitive processes. My self-care is a very important part of maintaining my healthy balance which includes meditation through hiking, connecting with nature, animal therapy, and other physical, emotional, and spiritual activities. I have traveled widely and have learned so much both in and outside my education. Working in a collaborative environment is important to me, and I provide a continuum of care through working with other services, programs, and professionals. I appreciate having a knowledge of the full range of available resources in our communities.

JENNIFER FREYENSEE full bio

I believe in the power of play. My passion is working with children from two through 12 years of age. Since 1992 I have used play therapy to reach my clients. With children, toys are the words and play is the language. In the playroom the child has the power to work through life experiences and feelings. Not only is play therapeutic for children, but also for adolescents, adults and families. Clients can express feelings freely through through drawing, painting or sand play without fear of judgment.  In trying to reach clients of all ages, I used another avenue of therapy, animal assisted therapy. Research using animals in therapy has shown numerous positive results. Animals can make connections with clients when therapists cannot! From 2010-2015 I used my Australian Labradoodle, Dusty, for animal assisted therapy. Young children would incorporate Dusty in their play as a pet of their own, as a partner in hide and seek or teaching him tricks, which empowered them, and made them smile. Adolescents enjoyed having him snuggle at their feet and reach for a hand to pet him.
